Great Escape Prison
A downloadable Pre-Alpha Demo for Windows
Great Escape Prison (GEP) - Pre-Alpha Demo
Welcome to the early technical prototype for Great Escape Prison. This is a short demo built in Godot 4 to test the fundamental mechanics of a third-person action game focused on a prison escape story.
Keep in mind this build is purely focused on core programming, physics, and overall game feel. Every single 3D model, animation, sound effect, and environment texture is 100% temporary placeholder material used strictly for testing during this early development phase.
What is in this build right now?
This early release is just a playground to test the basic systems:
- Third-person character controller and camera movement.
- Basic stamina system for sprinting and physical actions.
- Early melee combat framework and hit detection with basic weapons.
- Simple greybox prison map for testing collisions and locomotion.
What is planned for the full game?
The main vision for Great Escape Prison is a narrative-driven action sandbox about escaping a high-security facility:
- A main campaign planned with around 10 story missions.
- Expanded melee combat with new weapons, block mechanics, and varied attacks.
- Larger prison areas with stealth options and dynamic interactions.
- Full replacement of all temporary assets with final 3D models, proper animations, and custom sound design.
Feedback & Community
This is my first actual 3D game project, so any constructive feedback helps a lot. Since the main point of this demo is tweaking controls and physics, let me know how it feels to play:
- Is the camera smooth or annoying during movement?
- How responsive does the stamina and melee combat feel?
- Any weird bugs or collision issues you run into?
Feel free to leave your thoughts, ideas, or bug reports in the discussion board below.
Thanks a lot for checking out the demo! Whether you downloaded it, played through it for a few seconds, or left a comment, any kind of support means a ton to me at this stage of development. Hope you enjoy testing it out! 😁
A Note on Inspiration & Development
If the name didn't give it away already, this project is heavily inspired by the GTA 3D Universe (GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas). GTA is my favorite franchise of all time, and my goal isn't to make a cheap clone, but to capture that classic, old-school sandbox feel that made those games so special to me.
